On December 6, 2019, BMWED/IBEW Brother Jarrett Erhart (27), a substation electrician was fatally injured in a tragic accident at Amtrak’s Sub #46 in the Bronx. Brother Jarrett started his railroad career in 2017, first with the BMWED and recently with the IBEW. Those that were lucky enough to know him were blessed. His smile and kindness touched those in his presence.

The FAMES Committee reviewed available data from 9 fatal railroad accidents occurring since 1997 in which a boom on an RMM was in use. Roadway workers and machine operators can become engrossed in their tasks when assigned to work with or near boom-equipped RMMs  and various tasks often require ground workers to be in close proximity to the swing radius.

This month, workers at the Marciano Art Foundation were fired by ?the Marciano family, the founders of Guess jeans and MAF, just four days after they petitioned to form their union with AFSCME Council 36 (California).
